Here Are A Few Fact About Water Fountains

Saturday, October 13, 2012

By Sharlene Fleming

Water fountains refer to structures that pour liquids or spray them in air for decorative, dramatic or artistic purposes. They can also provide drinking water. Originally, they were joined to springs and utilized to deliver bathing, washing and drinking to occupants in villages, towns or cities. Before 19th century, several fountains operated by assistance of gravity with the sources being raised at higher grounds.

In the current days, these architectures are utilized to beautify town parks and squares, to honor occasions and people and for leisure and recreational reasons. There are many kinds of fountains and they comprise splash, drinking and musical models. Musical fountains produce a spectacle with light, music and liquids. They use jets of liquid and programmable spouts controlled by a computer. They were initially stated during the first century AD. They are capable of imitating several sounds such as that of trumpets, muskets and cannons.

Splash fountains are also called bathing pads and they are designed for people to cool off during hot summer seasons. They are located at places they can be accessed easily and do not have nonslip surfaces or standing waters. Standing waters are avoided to reduce hazards of drowning in order to leave them unguarded and unsupervised.

Splash pads are positioned in public pools, playgrounds or parks. In some, the waters are heated by solar power harnessed through darkly tinted granite slabs. They have various designs with common ones containing walkways between lines of nozzles on either side. People walk on the walkways and are sprayed by the nozzles.

A drinking fountain is meant to provide drinking water to humans and they contain sinks placed in rows with continuous streams or taps. People who need to drink must bend to the sink to do so. Indoor versions have chillers for lowering temperatures and filters for eradicating impurities. They are positioned in public sites like rest areas, libraries and grocery stores. Regulations demand that they have designs that make it easier wheelchairs users to drink from. Provisions for kids and short adults must also be incorporated.

Old fashion architectures relied solely on gravity and difference in level of elevation for functioning. This however changed in the 19th century when steam and electric pumps started being used to pump water. In the 20th century, most urban jets started to recycle their waters in closed circulating systems.

In modern structures, removal of solids from circulation is done by filter. They need chlorination and anti-algal treatment once in a while. Topping is important to replace dehydration through evaporation whereas overflows after heavy rains need to be handled by allowances incorporated in the design. A 12 volt power source runs them. Colors can be added in the waters to offer them a different appearance that suit a certain function. Pumps are responsible for pumping water through the plumbing network.

Water fountains may be powerful and unsafe if poorly managed. The tallest one on the globe is over two hundred meters tall. Regular maintenance is needed to ensure they function properly and remain hygienic. Manual assessment is needed particularly in rainy seasons.

Who Makes the Craftsman Riding Mower Well?

By Dominique H. Churchwell

Craftsman was initially started as a family run business, and although the company has made a worldwide reputation for itself, it still retains the same values which were initially set during the beginning - as well as even today the company continues to be a family run operation. Initially established in 1987, Craftsman went on to produce probably the most well known machinery in the lawn mowing industry.

Craftsman Riding Mowers Models Readily available

Craftsman riding mowers have been designed to cater to large scale gardens. Every model has it's own exclusive specifications that have been designed to suit gardens of almost any size or terrain type. Both manual and hydrostatic transmissions can be purchased, and the cutting widths can range from 92 centimetres to 122 centimetres. Many models are powered with either single or twin cylinder engines and also have four wheel drive options for those who require a little more power and durability craftsman riding mower

The manual transmission models include 5 forward gears and a reverse option. Users are able to choose a particular gear before starting the lawn mowing and gears don't have to be changed throughout the duration of the cut.

The hydrostatic transmission models operate in the same way as that of an automatic car. All the user should do is put force on the front pedal. The greater pressure the user places the faster the riding mower will move. The gears will be changed automatically on the way, giving an extremely smooth ride. Reversing is easy, all the user has to do is use the rear part of the pedal, which means that no manual gear changes are required.

Craftsman riding mowers include especially tailored cutting systems. They contain two rotating blades which will cut outside the width of the wheels of the tractor. This makes them quite simple for cutting hard to reach places, since the vehicle does not need to move over difficult ground. This system enables the user to efficiently mow around fencing, bumps and edges of gardens. There are a number of different cutting heights that come with each model. These are preset options which can be adjusted to match the requirements of the individual. Cutting heights can be changed while lawn mowing is in progress.

One of the benefits associated with most models is that the grass clippings are collected and emptied automatically through the cutting process. Which means users won't have to stop the vehicle so as to empty the collector; which makes the cutting process considerably faster and much more efficient. Craftsman riding mowers manuals will be provided with all models, that will make sure that users always understand how to properly operate the machinery.

There are several types of riding mower available. Most Craftsman lawn riders have been made to cater to gardens which are more than two acres, however there are smaller models available which have been designed for smaller gardens. These models differ in size and are sufficiently small to drive round standard size lawns. These mowers are called lawn riders.

A lawn rider is often powered with an electric key engine. When the machine is activated they can be run on unleaded fuel. Many lawn riders have a cutter deck system that makes it easier for users to cut around challenging areas. Most machines also have a lever connected which will change the height of the cutter.

Lawn riders gather cuttings in a rear collector. When this is full the person will have to stop the engine to remove and empty this collector. The clippings may then be placed in a compost pile.

12v and 24v Off Grid Lighting

By Ken Harbour

Off grid lighting can be many things for many people and can cover many and varied projects from Super high importance to simple fun projects. Examples can be; high power security lighting and associated equipment or just a simple garden light.

There are basic steps to think about when designing your off grid power and lighting system. As it will not have the certainty of the umbilical cord that is the mains AC power supply and it will have to stand and function alone. There really aren't that many parts needed build the home power system. Commonly this will include solar PV panels, A large often lead acid storage battery, a solar controller to regulate power correctly, a fuse box and of course the associated cabling, switches and light fittings. It will require a little patience and time to ensure everything is places correctly and importantly to ensure it is up to the duty you require of it.

The fist thing to do is calculate how much solar power is required. In this regard we mean how many Photovoltaic panels and what size - or how many watts we need. The second and also very important thing to consider is where the panels can be installed. They should never be subject to any potential shading from nearby trees or shrubs and should be pointing as near South as possible. The angle of inclination or tilt is also worth getting right so look to have an average angle of around 45 degrees at least for the UK this will be true.

In the UK, the optimum mounting angle is around 30 to 45 degrees from horizontal and of course, as directly south facing as possible.

It is helpful to be able access your solar array for maintenance. It may be necessary to clean panels that are mounted at a very shallow angle of say 10 or 15 degrees due to the build up of moss, bird droppings and lichens. If the panels can be mounted at a good angle not only will this ensure a better yield of power across the various months of the year but it will also assist with the natural cleaning effect from general weather conditions. It also important to ensure roof mounted panels are safe and will not be dislodged by high winds.

I will like to stress that a good angle of inclination of say over 30 degrees, at least in the UK,will ensure your PV panels remain clean and yield good power.

In order to calculate what power in watts we require our solar array to be we need to look at when the least amount of power will be available. In the UK this will of course be winter time. We allow just one hour of solar production as our calculator for winter power yield. So a well positioned 300 watt PV array will produce 300 watt hours based on the potential of 1 full hour of sunshine. Summer yield will be a lot higher at perhaps 4 to 5 hours a day. However, there are some losses to subtract from our final figure so we can basically deduct a further 20 percent giving us around 240 watt hours.

There is so much more to consider in practical terms and you see more on our blog at the OnSolar website, see link below.

The Use Of An Artificial Turf

By Casandra Newton

An artificial turf is an imitation tread that looks like natural grass. An artificial surface should be cleaned thoroughly and always by the ground keepers ahead of the game and after the games. There should also be cleaning of the turf in between the sessions if there are no games.

Some of the advantages of a synthetic material are that it can be a good solution especially when the environment is not suitable for ordinary grass; synthetic fiber can also sustain more use frequently. For the swimming surrounding, the use of synthetic surface is recommended. David Chaney, who first realized an synthetic thread in the year 1960s, directed a researchers group on synthetic grass where they satisfied its use.

The synthetic fibers work better than the normal prairie especially to countries that experience the summer season because pasture is very much exclusive to maintain for the purpose of indoor games to take place. As such the man-made grass becomes the solution. Games that are played on synthetic grass are like baseball, ski and snow, American football and tennis.

The most important thing for a synthetic field is how to maintain it. This is what makes the fiber encourage players to use it. Worth noting is that it hurts if not well looked after. After the artificial lawn has been well built, a layer of paint is applied around the edges to help fielders recognize important points for them to move around the field.

Grass is different from a synthetic cover in that the ball gets a higher chance of bouncing high on the normal grass field than a man made surface. The ball rolls faster on lawn than on man made surface making players to chase it while thinking of a solution. But the agency of turf fields is growing higher in some countries like the South East Asia this is as a result of the increase of indoor soccer games. FIFA has also designated a luminary system for turf fielders that have experienced quality and performance in their work.

Fielders then realized that the games played on normal grass were safer than those done on man made grass. This is because the indoor games caused severe injuries to their bodies, especially the ankle, elbows and knees. The man made grass has a tendency to retain heat from the sun hence becomes hotter that it causes the sport shoes either to melt or burn. Different representatives have heard the fielders complain and have sorted to do away with man made fiber.

Many people with interest in the synthetics came up with stadiums to host the games. They have since heard of the disadvantages of the artificial grass and have resorted to do away with them. Studies are underway to establish the viability of the idea of tendering natural grass in enclosed fields.

Several stadiums have changed from pasture to artificial turf to lawns or generally turn the entire stadium to a turf field. Tennis games, landscaping and aircraft both experience man made grass. In aircraft, synthetic material do not get washed away by rain instead help stabilize them. In comparison of the modern artificial grasses, they are made in such a permanent manner that it makes it difficult for one to change to individual sports.
